Kim and her family

"I'm a mom of four school age children, which gives me experience dealing with kids on a day to day basis. As a dental assistant and a CPR instructor I have some experience in the teaching role. I'm also a "method actor" which allowed me to develop the visual aspect of this project".

Read more on some of the acting projects she has worked on here.

Kim was deeply affected by the Columbine, Colorado and Taber, Alberta school shootings. She felt strongly that there had to be something she could do to make a difference. In January 2000 the seed was planted.

As a pilot project Kim went into the school her children attended and worked with the drama students using "method acting".  She wrote "Seven Scenes" and presented it to the entire school including Kindergarten to grade 12. Feedback from the staff indicated the only thing to improve the presentation would be to have the younger students leave the room and have deeper situations for the older students.

Kim also wrote a film script entitled "Unknown Wounds". It targets older students from grade 7-12 and deals with much deeper situations which are true to life.

Since February of 2002, Kim has presented to over 24,000 students and adults all over Saskatchewan and Alberta. Many students confided in her following her presentations, which led to Kim filming the documentary, "Let's Make a Difference", which is now available for purchase.  An inspirational recap of "Let's Make a Difference" is still included in the younger session.

Kim's presentations begin with a warm up so students and adults are open to feel what they see. Then she uses the videos to physically show the situations of bullying in all instances and it ends in discussion.

"The end result of this presentation is to
"think with your heart". I also talk about accepting everyone for who they are, not how they dress or what they look like".

"Everyone is special and important and this reassures them that. I believe you need self-esteem to succeed in this world".
